DIY “Shabby Chic” Themed Party For Louise

Louise didn’t want a big party for her 18th birthday so I thought something simple and sweet will make her happy.  Most of the stuff were bought from Daiso and then had them shipped in time for the small celebration back home.

February 14th is that time of the year where your man buys a dozen of red roses for about AED 200.00 or more, depending where he gets it from.

But I say bring her to Dubai Miracle Garden on Valentine’s day and you both will get to share the “flowery” experience together for less the price.

Photo Shooting A Friend’s Wedding… Fingers Crossed

A while back a friend of mine got married, both of them being old and good friends so you could only imagine how excited and euphoric I was for them.

Especially since I was photographer for their pre-wedding.

Whether I was asked or volunteered or volunteered myself for the role; I don’t exactly remember, but either way I enjoyed every second of it. Given, I’d never done it before and it would be my first foray into photography for other people and one of, if not the most, important event in their lives (no pressure there) but really, it’s fun to try new things.

And I did have fun. It was all so beautiful and wonderful. The place we chose was a very quiet park in Green Community DIP, a place teeming with life and colorful flora, so there was practically no need to decorate. Bright and cheery was the theme, things that reflected the nature of my two dear friends and their relationship but also quaint and simple because truly it doesn’t take extravagance and material possessions to nurture a good relationship.

I wasn’t nervous if I remember it right (on wasting their time and mine and of course the “moment”) , because these two were my friends, people I care about and hold close to my heart.  It was a labor of love.

Loving Abu Dhabi

The F1 (Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix) race will start 2 hours from now and Abu Dhabi is all fired up.

I need good lenses 😉

Tickets are sold out for today’s finale and if you didn’t get one don’t fret,  you can still enjoy Abu Dhabi……

Such a lovely place.
Amazing architecture. Here beauty transcends religion.
Best Korean restaurant in town!
The 24K Gold Cappucino, a must try.
Lots of vintage finds here.

On Being Original And Unique

So I came up with an idea, a brilliant one I believe and I start googling to back it up.

And the minute  I clicked the “search” button I was flooded with if not the exact same idea, something much better.

But wait I haven’t clicked “image” yet.

Then there’s youtube, need I say more?

Reality is with the kind of technology we now have and the way we exchange and handle even the tiniest information, it’s hard to make a claim on something that is natural, obvious or given…how can I say

this quote is mine

this pattern is mine

this title is mine

this photo is mine

This thought came to me while waiting for someone in Marina (I got inspired); I’ll be posting this maybe day after tomorrow (today is Tuesday October 16th–it took me a while).  I am 101% sure that if I google, someone out there has written something in the same context years back.

I breathe the same air as everyone else and best I can do is to just keep on doing what I love to do.  Be it penning down my own crazy quotes, crocheting here and there, writing every now and then, or taking not so professional shots of sightings that in my eyes are breathtaking.

I want to believe that I was born not to please but to share.

Marina Walk

The wind brought me here last night by chance,

the setting is so perfect I didn’t mind walking alone.

Harbour lights and luxury yachts moored nearby.

Friendly people doing casual walks and kids so free and giggly.

Soft music playing here and there…it’s something good but not Wael’s.

And yes that fruity sheesha  aroma

mixed with the salty scent  of a gentle breeze that brought me here.

Marina. Marina.

“Winter Is Coming”

Scheduled to premier on March 31, 2013, Game of Thrones season 3 is quite a long wait but definitely worth it I am certain.  While waiting  I am keen on experimenting with the following projects:

1. Crochet my way around- do some really nice pieces and sell it online

2. Bling it on- I have a good source for chic fashion accessories that I want to sell online

3. Comfy wedges- bought a few samples of the most comfortable wedges straight from the factory and yes I want to sell them online

4. For the not so skinny- just made a good deal with an importer who is willing to supply trendy loose clothes that I can sell online

Think..think…….anyways, yes “winter is coming” and I just finished this snood for my daughter Rain.  She loves the color blue and the yarn ball I got has all shades. =)
